元ガンバ大阪ユース出身の日本代表MF堂安律(28・フランクフルト)のサウジアラビア移籍が、8月31日までに事実上白紙となった。独『Kicker』など複数のメディアによると、フランクフルトとアル・イテハドはクラブ間で移籍金約1800万ユーロ(約32億円)の条件まで合意に達し、あとは契約手続きを残すのみの段階だったが、堂安本人が土壇場で移籍を拒否したという。堂安はすでにサウジアラビア入りしていたとも伝えられ、現地で心変わりしてフランクフルト行きの便に搭乗し直したとされる。

Ritsu Doan’s (28) move to Saudi Arabia effectively fell apart by 31 August. According to German outlet Kicker and others, Eintracht Frankfurt and Al-Ittihad had agreed club-to-club terms worth around 18 million euros (roughly 3.2 billion yen), with only the paperwork left to complete — but Doan himself rejected the move at the last moment. Reports say he had already travelled to Saudi Arabia before having a change of heart on the ground and boarding a flight back to Frankfurt.

独メディアは、決断の背景に堂安個人の事情があったと伝えている。フランクフルト側は当初アル・イテハドに2000万ユーロ超の評価額を求めていたとされるが、最終盤では約1800万ユーロで折り合いがついていたという。それでも合意目前で覆ったことについて、現地では「驚くべきこと」との受け止めも伝えられている。フランクフルト、アル・イテハドいずれからも本稿執筆時点で公式コメントは出ていない。

German media report that Doan’s own personal circumstances lay behind the decision. Frankfurt had reportedly been holding out for more than 20 million euros from Al-Ittihad at one stage, before the fee settled at around 18 million euros in the closing stages. Even so, the collapse so close to agreement has been described locally as “astonishing.” Neither club had issued an official comment at the time of writing.

堂安は2025年8月にSCフライブルクから完全移籍でフランクフルト入りしたばかりで、契約は2030年6月まで残っている。獲得に動いていたアル・イテハドを率いるのは、今年7月までガンバ大阪を指揮したイェンス・ヴィッシング監督。フランス代表FWムサ・ディアビのレバークーゼン移籍で生じた右サイドの穴を堂安で埋める構想だったとされるが、ブンデスリーガの夏の移籍期間はすでに8月31日に閉じており、今回の破談で堂安は今シーズンもフランクフルトでプレーを続けることになる。

Doan only joined Frankfurt on a permanent transfer from SC Freiburg in August 2025 and remains under contract until June 2030. Al-Ittihad, who had been pursuing him, are managed by Jens Wissing — who led Gamba Osaka until this July. The Saudi club was reportedly targeting Doan to fill the right-flank void left by France forward Moussa Diaby’s move to Bayer Leverkusen, but with the Bundesliga’s summer window having closed on 31 August, the collapsed deal means Doan will continue at Frankfurt for the rest of this season.
